One of the most beautiful places I’ve ever been, this beach along the southwestern shore of the Big Island protects former royal grounds and a sacred place of refuge. The site was home to royals of the Kona District. A stone wall was built to separate the royal grounds from the pu’uhonua, an area that was known as “the place that gave people a second chance.” It became an area of refuge for warriors as no blood could be shed within the pu’uhonua.
The sand was beautiful and the water was so blue!
