On the drive from Capitol Reef National Park to Bryce Canyon National Park, we passed through Grand Staircase Escalante National Monument. This expansive region encompasses nearly 1.9 million acres and was named a National Monument by President Clinton in 1996. This is the largest land area of any U.S. monument. The layers of rock that begin here lead all the way to the Grand Canyon and this drive provided some of the most beautiful views…. And some of the narrowest roads with steep drop offs.
