Carter G. Woodson is considered the Father of African-American history and was one of the first scholars to study and write about African-American history. His home was under renovations so we were unable to visit, but got to enjoy a sculpture just outside the home in one of the capitol’s many parks. These parks are considered monuments in themselves and honor many historic figures.
