The Thomas Jefferson Memorial, one of my favorites, sits along the tidal basin with a 19 foot-tall sculpture of Thomas Jefferson looking out from the memorial toward the White House. The memorial was dedicated in 1943.

On the other side of the memorial sits Potomac Park, where residents and visitors alike enjoy picnics, softball games and many miles of trails.
