The Statue of Liberty has beckoned thousands of immigrants for more than 100 years. In past visits to New York, I had never actually visited the statue and I was looking forward to seeing it up close. Approaching from far away on a cloudy day, I wasn’t sure if the iconic statue would live up to expectations, but as we got closer the size and beautiful color were awe-inspiring. Despite being mostly cloudy, the beautiful gold torch shone brightly.
