Sitting along the Arkansas River, this Historic Site protects more than 80 years of history. The site, like Fort Scott, served many purposes over time. The grounds feature a former Federal Court, jail, and commissary. Near the Fort is the Fort Smith National Military Cemetery.
The adjacent town was vibrant on a Saturday morning and we enjoyed lunch in a transformed rail car – The Nickel and Dime Diner – next to ferris wheel.
