Along my journey to visit 100 National Parks, I have traced the steps of many of our country’s founders and explorers. During one of my earliest stops, the 11th along the way, I visited the place where Meriwether Lewis died that features a monument to his life cut short. When traveling west and south, I’ve passed over the historic trail that tracks the western expedition of Lewis and Clark many times. On this last leg of the journey, we passed the trail again through North Dakota following these early explorers as we continued west.
