Continental Divide National Scenic Trail

The Continental Divide National Scenic Trail was created in 1978 and closely follows the Divide from the Canadian border to Mexico. We hiked along a short section of the trail within Yellowstone National Park near Lewis Lake. The Divide separates the watersheds that lead to the Atlantic and Pacific Oceans. Rivers and lakes along the divide often split, flowing both directions, sometimes out of the same body of water.
