Little Big Horn National Battlefield

Little Big Horn National Battlefield commemorates a battle between U.S. Soldiers and Native American tribes as they were pushed westward following the Civil War. On the hill at Little Big Horn, General Custer and more than 260 U.S. soldiers died while fighting against Native American tribes led by Sitting Bull of the Lakota Tribe. While the remains of the soldiers have been moved to a monument on the site, grave markers still stand where the soldiers fell during the battle, including General Custer. A stunning monument sits on one side of the hill, created as a result of nationwide competition to recognize the tribes that fought on both sides of the conflict.
